Neuro-Debts was performed during the occupation of Green Park, Athens Greece, in June 2016. The occupation organized a week of performances questioning the political effectiveness of ‘the future’ as a concept and organizing principle. Neuro-Debts responded to this question with an experimental text combining theoretical notes on faciality, memory, and neuro-resistance.
The text was published in “Bricks from the Kiln” with images selected from the Exigencies archive. The documents record the discovery of an illegal communist radio station in Glyfada Greece two years after the Greek Civil War when communists were systematically exiled, persecuted, and executed by the governing party. Organizers of this radio station were tried for treason and executed suddenly on the morning of March 29, 1952. Their names are as follows: Ηλίας Αργυριάδης, Νίκο Μπελογιάννη, Νίκο Καλούμενο και Δημήτρη Μπάτση.
The accompanying poster representing a soldier from the National Liberation Front reads, ‘ακλονητος σαν ενας βραχος’ or ‘unshakeable like a rock’.
