Exigencies is a collection of photographs documenting the life and death of my grandfather Ilias Argiriadis who was executed in 1952 for organizing a secret radio station for the Greek Communist Party.
The archive first appeared in the exhibition A Prism When in the Shade curated by artist Jake Davidson. The show responded directly to the State of Israel’s attack of the Gaza Strip in June of 2014 by mobilizing artists around questions of memory and political imagination. Since then pieces of Exigencies have been featured in several publications.
